Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems still makes telecommunication, scientific, and environmental satellites. A business unit of Lockheed Martin, its satellites are used for direct broadcast, broadband, fixed satellites, and mobile applications. Lockheed, which also makes satellite support and control centers, has launched more than 870 satellites since inception. Customers have included Echostar, Intelsat, Iridium, AsiaSat, Astrolink and IKONOS.
